History of Adygea

The Adygean Ground Forces (Adyghe: Адыгэ Сьфгуф Гуслахэр; Russian: Адыгхие Наземные Войска) were formed from the Soviet Army formations, units, and establishments that were on Adygean soil, primarily the units stationed in the western part of the North Caucasus Military District when the Soviet Union collapsed in 1990-92. Since the fall of the USSR, Adygea kept much army equipment that is now outdated into the late 1990s and early 2000s. Since then, however, Adygea has upgraded its Ground Force with advanced additions from domestic engineering and modifications. Currently, the Adygean Armed Forces buy military equipment from Russia and other CIS states.
