Adygeya - Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Adygea was adopted on 24 May, 1994.

Symbology Edit

The image of the rider is a Adyghe man, dressed in the traditional chokha (robe) and kabalakhi (hood). He holds aloft a torch upon a rearing horse, 'lighting the way for the Adyghe'[1], while a khanjali is sheathed at his side. The mountains from which he rides represent the North Caucasus, and the twelve stars represent the twelve tribes of the Adyghe.
